Ultimate (Frisbee)

Combining the non-stop movement and athletic endurance of soccer with the aerial passing skills of football, a game of Ultimate is played by two seven-player squads with a high-tech plastic disc on a field similar to football. The object of the game is to score by catching a pass in the opponent’s end zone. A player must stop running while in possession of the disc, but may pivot and pass to any of the other receivers on the field. Ultimate is a transition game in which players move quickly from offense to defense on turnovers that occur with a dropped pass, an interception, a pass out of bounds, or when a player is caught holding the disc for more than ten seconds.

*Traveling Club Team Tournament *

At Sportsfest, the main tournament will be an Invite event with 12 traveling Co-ed Club teams competing for the Philly Invite championship. Pool play games will be held on Saturday, feeding into single elimination brackets on Sunday to decide the champ. Come on out to the Lehigh Valley Sports Fields and see some of the best Co-ed Ultimate teams in the country compete in this exhibition.

We will also be sponsoring a second team event that may include both coed teams & men's teams. These bids will be handed out on a first come, first serve basis. This is a full team only event, so you cannot register as an individual. However, if you are an individual looking to pick up with a team, please email the TD & he will do his best to place you on a team that is looking for extra players.

This event is sponsored by the Philadelphia Area Disc Alliance (PADA), a nonprofit organization that runs year-round leagues in Philadelphia for over 1200 athletes. PADA also supports several local college teams and over 30

local high school teams. More info is available at www.pada.org.
